Two people have been hospitalised following a serious crash north of Te Kaha.
Police said they were called to a one-car crash on State Highway 35, near Para-Rauaruhe Cres at 11:30am.
One person was trapped in the vehicle for a time and received serious injuries, a police spokesperson told the Herald.
A St John spokeswoman said one person with moderate injuries was flown by rescue helicopter to Middlemore Hospital, while a second person was transported by ambulance to Whakatane Hospital with moderate injuries.
The Fire Service also attended the crash.
