A man has been arrested following the death of a man at a Mt Roskill party last weekend.
Reginald Sharma, 25, died at a house party on Haughey Ave in the early hours of Saturday morning.
A 22-year-old was arrested today and charged with manslaughter. He is expected to appear in Auckland District Court tomorrow, police said.
"The inquiry team have worked tirelessly since the weekend to understand the circumstances of what happened in the incident," Detective Inspector Aaron Pascoe said.
"The arrest today is an important step in the investigation and will hopefully bring some relief for the friends and family of the victim."
Inquiries into the incident are still on-going, Pascoe said. Anyone with information is asked to contact Auckland Police on 09 302 6557 or anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Earlier this week, Sharma was described as a selfless and cheerful man. Friends and family said he was a fun-loving, cheerful son, brother, nephew, father and stepfather.
"... a person with a heart of gold always putting others first we are truly gonna miss you," his partner wrote.
He died on a driveway at the Haughey Ave property despite efforts from those at the party to carry out CPR.
Sharma and his partner were expecting a child together.
