A man is in hospital with leg injuries after being struck by a getaway car in a dairy robbery in Hamilton today.
Police and paramedics were called to the Aberdeen Superette, on Aberdeen Dr, about 12.30pm.
A St John spokesman told the Herald a man in his 30s suffered leg injuries after being hit by a vehicle.
He was taken to Waikato Hospital in a moderate condition.
Police said the man was hit as at least three people - armed with screwdrivers - had just robbed the store of cigarettes and the shop till.
"At the time, a staff member was outside and tried to film the incident," a police spokeswoman said.
"The driver of the car has manoeuvred the vehicle, causing serious but non-life threatening injuries to the man."
Police are investigating the incident and are urging members of the public who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area to contact them immediately.
