A farmer has rescued two women from their car after it got stuck in floodwaters in Whangaruru in Northland.
The car was on Russell Rd, about 2km south of Whangaruru Wharf Rd.
Fire, coastguard and police services were called to the rural spot after a call came in at 9.12pm.
But by the time fire services arrived, a friendly farmer had managed to pull the women to safety in a large tractor.
The car is reportedly still in the water.
