A woman has been taken to hospital after being hit by a stolen car fleeing from police.
Wellington police attempted to pull over a silver Mazda Familia at 1.40pm, after a theft from a shop in Lyall Bay.
But instead those in the car accelerated away, driving towards the city.
Fifteen minutes later the fleeing car reached the intersection of Everton Terrace and The Terrace, crossed a raised median island, and hit a woman who was on foot.
The woman has been taken to hospital as a precaution, but a police spokesperson said the victim only received scrapes and bruises.
The Mazda Familia has now been found abandoned in the Clifton Terrace car park.
Police believe it was stolen and are looking for the occupants, believed to be two men and a woman in their mid-twenties.
The police spokesperson said the crash happened in a public place with a lot of foot traffic, which was surrounded by offices.
They're appealing for people to get in touch if they witnessed the crash or noticed a trio of people running from the area shortly before 2pm.
