The identity of the mother of a baby boy found dead in a South Auckland reserve continues to be a mystery.
The body of the newborn baby, wrapped in clothing, was found last month by a man walking his dog near the mangroves of the Mona Ave Reserve in Mangere.
There were concerns for the mother, as she had likely given birth recently and possibly needed medical attention.
Today, a police media spokeswoman said no further information was available.
Although police confirmed the baby was a newborn, of Maori or Pacific Island ethnicity, they were unable to tell if he'd been stillborn.
