A man was flown from a Navy ship to hospital yesterday.
At 11.10am, the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter flew to Great Mercury Island, east of the Coromandel, for the man, aged in his 30s.
He was on duty on a naval ship when he began to feel unwell. Onboard medics
treated him until the crew arrived.
Intensive care flight paramedic, Ross Aitken, was winched down onto the ship to treat the patient.
The ill man was placed on a stretcher and the crew winched him and Aitken to the helicopter.
