The Hokitika man who died following a collision between a car and his mobility scooter yesterday has been named as Robin Laurence McMurtrie, aged 83.
The crash happened shortly before 4.30pm at the intersection of Fitzherbert and Hampden streets in Hokitika.
Mr McMurtrie was taken to Greymouth Hospital with moderate
injuries. He died later the same day.
A serious crash investigation is under way to establish the cause of the crash and a post-mortem examination will be conducted.
No one else was injured in the crash.
