Two people have handed themselves in to police following a violent attack on a mother and daughter in Christchurch on New Year's Day.
Georgia Fergusson, 22, and her mother, Michelle Coker, were attacked at about 1am outside the Christchurch Casino in what they say was an unprovoked attack.
Video footage of the incident shows Miss Fergusson lying on the side of the footpath as another woman sits on top of her, punching her several times.
Miss Fergusson's mother can be seen hitting the woman as she tries to pull her off her daughter, who is screaming. Meanwhile, two men can be seen fighting in a separate incident. Ms Coker alleged one of the men had earlier punched her in the face.
Last night, Canterbury Police said two people had handed themselves in after a plea via social media to identify two people -- a man and a woman -- of interest.
A total of five people involved in the incident have been formally interviewed by police officers.
Despite the new developments, police are still calling for anyone who may have witnessed or recorded the incident to come forward.
