A woman has been arrested after allegedly stabbing her partner in Christchurch.
Emergency services were called to a house in Hornby last night, where they found a 46-year-old man who had been stabbed.
Police said a 48-year-old woman was arrested and due to appear in Christchurch District Court today.
The victim was taken to Christchurch Hospital where he underwent surgery overnight and was now in a stable condition.
Detective Sergeant Geoff Ruddick said the couple were in a relationship.
"This was a domestic violence related incident," he said. "It is always concerning that relationships deteriorate to this level, and there are a number of agencies to help if people have issues."
He said officers would examine the scene today, but anyone with any information was asked to call Christchurch Police on 03 363 7400 or Crime stoppers on 0800 555 111.
