The man wanted in connection with a shooting in Whanganui has handed himself into police.
Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Gorringe said Simon Nelley handed himself into the Whanganui Police Station shortly after 7pm.
"Mr Nelley voluntarily handed himself in this evening and is now helping the police with their investigation," said Mr Gorringe in a statement.
"The firearm has also been recovered."
Police appealed for Mr Nelley to hand himself in after another man arrived at hospital this afternoon suffering a gunshot to the leg.
The injury was serious but not life threatening.
At the time, Mr Gorringe said police were seeking Mr Nelley because he had left the scene.
"This is out of character for Mr Nelley and we would like to locate him as soon as possible."
He said Mr Nelley was likely to be armed and should not be approached, and gave a description of his vehicle.
