A police staffer has been charged with stealing cell phones, laptops and digital cameras from work.
Hee Sung Choi, 27, who is a non-sworn police employee, faces one charge of theft and four of theft by a person in a special relationship- carrying a maximum of seven years imprisonment.
The alleged offending involved the theft of 20 mobile phones, four laptops, two digital cameras and a phone charger.
The Henderson man allegedly committed the acts between March last year and as recently as a month ago.
Choi appeared in Auckland District Court this morning and was remanded on bail until next month.
A police spokeswoman said the defendant had been stood down since July 23 and was subject to an internal employment investigation.In July 2013, police completed the multi-million-dollar roll out of more than 6000 iPhones and 3000 iPads to frontline staff.
