A member of the public has been hospitalised after being injured during an altercation at a bank robbery in Auckland today, police say.
The robbery happened at Papakura's ASB Bank on Great South Road just after 10am.
A 19-year-old man was arrested and will appear in the Manukau District Court tomorrow charged with robbery, police spokeswoman Kimberley Mathews said.
The man was in police custody and further charges were pending, she said.
A member of the public was injured during an altercation inside the bank as the man demanded cash from staff.
The person received superficial wounds and was taken to hospital to be treated, Ms Mathews said.
Police urged anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the man running from the scene to contact Counties Manukau police on 09 261 1321.
