Motorist critically injured after vehicle crashes into Coromandel river

Save A motorist was critically injured when a vehicle crashed into a river in the Coromandel this afternoon.
The driver was believed to have been the only person in the vehicle when it left the Tapu Coroglen Rd around 4.20pm, police said.
No other vehicle was involved in the crash.
The
injured person was pulled to safety from the vehicle, which was in the water when emergency services arrived.
The person was described as being in a critical condition. Ambulance personnel were at the scene.
