Fire investigators are trying to establish the cause of a large blaze at an Auckland factory last night.

Emergency services were called to the blaze at the Packsys warehouse on Carmont Place, Mt Wellington, about 8.55pm.

The front of the 50m by 75m building was well ablaze by the time the first of 15 fire engines arrived.

It took just over an hour for about 60 firefighters to bring the blaze under control.

Fire Service northern communications shift manager Steve Smith said a fire engine remained on stand-by at the scene overnight.

He said the cause was not yet known and Fire Safety investigators would try to establish the cause when they inspected the scene this morning.
