“On the first analysis, a shock was advised,” the union said.
“After three shocks, our patient had a pulse and was transported to hospital.”
Three weeks later Steve’s wife collected his bike from the station and told staff he was preparing to leave hospital.
Last week, Steve met with station officer Martyn Baker and senior firefighter Stefan McCord in what was an “emotional reunion”.
“Often, when patients leave in an ambulance, we never know the outcome,” the union said.
“These wins don’t happen often, but when they do, they make it all worthwhile.”
The union praised the actions of the bystander and hoped she would come forward.
Her actions made a “massive difference” to Steve’s outcome, it said.
“If you know who she is, or if you are reading this, please get in touch with us.”
