Three men arrested over an attack on Kiwi league player Sia Soliola have been released on bail.

The St Helens' star suffered serious facial injuries after an alleged bar attack in England.

Soliola, 25, was hospitalised and three men were arrested on suspicion of assault and violent disorder after the incident outside the Imperial Bar at 2.20am Monday (British time) in St Helens.

Merseyside police said a 23-year-old man from Lymm, Cheshire, a 24-year-old man from Chester and a 32-year-old from Speke, Liverpool, have been bailed pending further enquiries.

It is unclear whether the former Sydney Roosters' centre or second rower will be able to play against Bradford Bulls this weekend.
