Under the Coroner's Act, parties in an inquest receive advanced copies of the coroner's findings and can make submissions if there are adverse comments or criticisms.
It is understood Mr Kahui's lawyers have made submissions and they are now seeking a judicial review of the findings in the High Court at Auckland.
Mr Kahui's lawyers Lorraine Smith and Michele Wilkinson-Smith have engaged Rodney Harrison QC to represent their client.
Mrs Smith and Ms Wilkinson-Smith both declined to comment on the matter.
Dr Harrison was also contacted and declined to comment.
APNZ applied to view the court file. However, Justice Edwin Wylie has ordered that the file cannot be searched by the public.
The matter is set down to be called at the High Court in February next year.
