A 13-year-old boy was stabbed while walking through the carpark at McDonald's restaurant in Nelson yesterday.
Police said the boy was walking through the carpark towards Hardy St about 4.30pm, when another youth on a BMX bike came up from behind him and stabbed him in his right forearm with a pocket knife, causing a 1.5cm laceration.
The attacker then left on a silver BMX bike. He was accompanied by three to four teenagers on bikes.
Police said the attacker is described as wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans, white and red/purple shoes like hi-tops. He had dark hair with a long fringe down to his eyes.
The victim was treated at Nelson Hospital and since been released.
Police are interested in speaking to a male who came to the aid of the victim and any other witnesses to the incident.
