The owners of an exclusive golf club, country club and villa development in Pauanui say it's business as usual, despite an application by Inland Revenue to put the resort into liquidation over unpaid tax.
The IRD has filed applications with the High Court to put Lakes Resort Golfand Country Club, Pauanui Lakes Properties and Lakes Resort Villas into liquidation. The applications will be heard on February 27.
Joint owner and shareholder Trevor Toohill last week shrugged off the liquidation move, saying it was "business as usual" and there was "nothing untoward" occurring. Toohill acknowledged there were "taxation issues of a minor nature" but would not say how much was involved: "It's not a great deal of money."
The company would defend the applications and Toohill was confident the matter would be sorted out on February 27, "if not before". He described the golf club and country club as a "fantastic ongoing operation".
An IRD spokeswoman said the department could not discuss individual cases but proceedings to recover unpaid tax were a last resort.
Meanwhile, properties in waterfront Whisper Cove, near Snell's Beach in Rodney District, will go up for sale at a receiver's auction on February 21.
Six three-bedroom villas and a two-bedroom apartment will be sold.
