A 19-year-old woman who died when her farm bike and a ute were involved in a collision, has been named by police.
Farm worker Aleesha Tait had been crossing the road to another property when the crash happened just before midday.
The accident on Te Kawa Rd, south of TeAwamutu, happened near the corner of Pokuru Rd.
Ms Tait, who was riding a two-wheel farm bike, died at the scene and the sole occupant of the ute was shaken but uninjured.
The serious crash unit was investigating the circumstances of the death and the entire length of Te Kawa Rd was closed for four hours but has since reopened.
Waikato road policing manager Freda Grace said Ms Tait had been heading north direction across the road as she left one farm driveway and headed across the road to another. The ute had been heading in the direction of SH3.
The crash brought Waikato's road toll this year to 37, and Ms Grace said each incident was a devastating tragedy for the family left behind.
"Whilst we have a safe system approach ... that still relies on people sticking to the rules, complying with the rules. You have to stop, check and recheck at intersections, when you are at the red light, when you are exiting a driveway. It relies on people doing the right thing as well."
