As winds battering the eastern coast of the South Island move up the country, another front is moving in from the west.
MetService says a next front of strong winds and heavy rain will hit the western parts of the island tomorrow night and continue into Sunday.
There is also the possibility of strong gales reaching Canterbury on Sunday.
The MetService predicts more bad weather is also due in the region next week and says more rain and wind will come on Tuesday.
However, warmer weather can be expected in areas of Southland and Otago next week, offering a reprieve to those affected by snow falls.
