More FM helps get Rory back

It might have been a bad omen for Wairarapa-Bush when their mascot Rory the Stag was stolen from supporters en-route to Paeroa last weekend.

But thanks to a radio station appeal, the stag's head has now been recovered.

Rory had been taken from under the supporters' bus while the fans rested on Friday night in Taupo.

Wairarapa Bush went on to lose 23-15.

But when More FM Wairarapa heard the news, they contacted colleagues at the More FM station in Taupo, asking for help.

More FM breakfast host Brent Gare got hold of his counterpart in Taupo, Andrew Leiataua. "We asked them, can you give us a hand," he said.

And Taupo did; the stag was returned in 20 minutes. It was couriered down from Taupo to Masterton on Wednesday night. "Hopefully it means we'll win against North Otago - fingers crossed," said Mr Gare.
