Mitsubishi, dealers may recall NZ cars

Mitsubishi Motors New Zealand expects to know early this week if any vehicles subject to a recall in Japan have been exported to this country.

More than 500,000 of the following models have been recalled in Japan: Lancer, Asti, Mirage, Galant, Eterna, Emeraud, Legnum, Aspire, Diamante, Pajero, Pajero iO, Delica Space Gear, Challenger and Fuso trucks.

The Independent Motor Vehicle Dealers Association would co-ordinate any recall of used imports, said Mitsubishi NZ managing director John Leighton.

The firm would contact clients directly if new imports were involved.

Mitsubishi would not give reasons for the Japan recall.
