Missing girls found in forest

Three girls missing overnight near Kaingaroa have been reunited with their families. Police say the trio became lost in a forestry block after going to pick blackberries yesterday afternoon.

Detective Sergeant John Wilson says they were found late this morning wandering on a forestry road 500 metres from Kaingaroa, near Rotorua.

He says it seems the thick forest caused much confusion for the girls and they could not find their way out.

Detective Sergeant Wilson says they have told police they could hear searchers, but did not know which way to go to get to them.
