Julie Mikoz has won the East Indoor Bowling Club's singles championship for 2012.
Runner-up was Brenda Whitehead and tied for third were Kathy Murray and John Mahupuka.
East also made a strong start when the first round of inter-club matches was played. They topped the points table after their 13-1defeat of St Marks.

Clarveille is the early leader in the Walker Cup singles competition. They have 4pts, followed by East 3.5, Cossie 3, Central 2, Carterton RSA 2, Belvedere 1, St Marks 0.5 and Dalefield 0. Lansdowne had the bye. The next round of inter-club is on May 23 and East have the bye.
There, Mike King beat Donald Leighton before going on to play Peter Bain, the latter winning 15-8. The other semi-final saw Kelvin Simonsen beat John Duncan 12-5, with the final resulting in a 13-7 win for Simonsen over King.
Just two of the eight qualifiers in the women's event qualified for post section play. Elva Simonsen beat Janice Leighton 10-5 in the final.
