There has been mayhem on Auckland's motorways during peak hour this evening.
A strip of bark caught fire on the Northwestern Motorway after someone allegedly threw a firework.
Northern fire communications shift manager Jaron Phillips said multiple people called 111 around 5.20pm to report the blaze, and one caller saidthey saw it start when a motorist threw a lit firework out their car window.
And a crash that had been blocking a lane en route to Auckland Airport has caused major delays.
NZTA said the crash blocked the left lane, airport bound, on George Bolt Memorial Drive.
