Massive house fire in Wellington

Six fire trucks are on the scene at a Wellington property after a house went up in flames this afternoon.

The fire was reported at 1.50pm on Mana Esplanade.

Fire Service spokesman Murray Dunbar said the fire was well alight when crews arrived.

The house was "severely damaged". No one was trapped or injured.

Mr Dunbar said Fire Service investigators were at the house and would be working to ascertain what the cause was.

"We have extinguished the main fire, we're just dampening down now," he said.
