Manawatu potato farm sells for record $5 million

A 138.7ha Opiki farm - with some of the most fertile soils in the nation's main potato-growing area - has been auctioned for $5.14 million.

The price - equivalent to $37,058 a hectare - was a record for bare farmland in the Manawatu, said a spokesman for the sales agents.
