A man is dead and a woman injured after a head-on collision on the Kapiti Coast today.
The crash between a four wheel drive and a car happened on State Highway 1 near Paekakariki about 1pm, Inspector Ken Climo of central police communications said.
A Wellington Free Ambulance spokeswoman said a man in his late 20s died at the scene, while a woman in her 50s suffered moderate face and chest injuries.
The woman was taken to Wellington Hospital by the Wellington Free Ambulance.
Mr Climo said the crash happened just north of where a wire barrier dividing the two lanes of traffic ended.
