Man hospitalised after serious assault in central Auckland

Two men have been arrested after a 23-year-old was man was beaten, kicked and stomped on Auckland's Karangahape Rd.

The man was on the ground, during a fight, at the time of the assault.

Police are seeking witnesses to the serious assault which took place about 2.30am.

The victim was knocked unconscious and received significant facial and head injuries.

He remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A 22-year-old was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and the 21-year-old has been charged with assault with intent to Injure.

Both men will appear in Auckland District Court tomorrow.

Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the incident.
