A man has died after three pallets fell on him at rail and road freight company Toll New Zealand in Onehunga, Auckland.
Emergency services were called to Toll's site off Nielson St about 11.30 this morning.
A person in critical condition was taken from the scene but later died, FireService spokeswoman Carren Larking said.
The scene of the workplace death is nestled down a small road off Nielson St, in an industrial area shared by other transport companies, including Kiwirail.
Nearby workers declined to comment, saying only that they had heard the ambulances arrive but did not know what had happened.
A representative of Toll New Zealand told the Herald the company would not be providing comment at this time, as it was "too soon" and still "raw".
The company was still in the process of contacting the man's next of kin, he said.
