Driver charged after Dunedin crash that left one person dead

A man has been charged after a fatal crash in Dunedin on Friday night.

The man appeared in the Dunedin District Court this morning, charged with dangerous driving causing death and failing to stop to ascertain injury.

He will be back in court later in the week.

One person died after a single-vehicle crash on Wickliffe Rd at about 9.10pm.

Emergency services were notified shortly after the crash occurred.

Another person was seriously injured, while a third sustained minor injuries.

The Serious Crash Unit attended the scene, and inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
