Lotto: Powerball rolls over after no one takes $8m

The Lotto numbers are in but no one took home the $8 million prize tonight, jackpotting Powerball to $10m.

The winning numbers were 40, 30, 25, 9, 1 and 38. The Bonus Ball was 22, and the Powerball was 4.

While no one became a millionaire tonight, two lucky ticket holders got halfway there.

Division 1 was hit twice by Kiwis who matched six numbers to win a cool $500,000 each.

Those tickets were sold at Jervois Food Market in Herne Bay and Black Cat Store in Nelson.

Another lucky ticket holder scored Strike, getting the exact order of all four numbers and nabbing $400,000.

That ticket was sold at Edmonton Stationery & Lotto in Auckland.

Last week, an Auckland mum sent a jazz hands emoji to her children after winning $12.75m in last Saturday’s Lotto Powerball draw.

The $25m jackpot was shared by two tickets, with one taking $12.5m and the other $12.75m.

One of the tickets was bought for $12 on Saturday via MyLotto by an Auckland man who said he sometimes tweaks the Powerball number on his ticket to one of his preferred numbers.

“Powerball number 3 cropped up twice, so I didn’t change it the second time – and that’s the line we won on,” he said.

He logged on to his app and saw the virtual draw play out, surprising his partner just before she went to sleep.

“I was in the bathroom getting ready for bed when I suddenly heard him shouting my name,” she said.

“Then he appeared in the doorway as calm as anything, saying, ‘I think we’ve won Powerball’.”

What to do if you win

Ticket holders can see immediately if they have won if they purchased a ticket through MyLotto. Prizes of $1000 or less are automatically credited to the account.

For prizes exceeding $1000, winners must complete an online prize claim form.

Winners with physical tickets must still visit a Lotto retailer to claim their prize.

For the Powerball jackpot to be claimed, a ticket holder must get all six Lotto numbers correct as well as the added Powerball number.
