Lake Wanaka kayakers safe after spot of trouble

Four kayakers have made it back to shore safely after getting into trouble near Ruby Island on Lake Wanaka.

A Police spokeswoman said the kayakers got into trouble about 10.40am this morning when strong winds came up on the lake. One of the kayaks flipped over.

Fortunately, all were wearing life jackets.

Someone on shore called Police and Coast Guard but their assistance was not required, she said.
