An Auckland Labour Party worker has been reprimanded after an office computer was used to gain access to pornography.
Auckland Central electorate office spokeswoman Therese Colgan said pornographic images were downloaded outside of work hours on the office computer.
The matter had been dealt with correctly at the time and
an employee was reprimanded and was now on leave, she said.
The incident, which happened in May, follows the revelation by the Herald this month that the treasurer of Central branch had resigned after making "unauthorised borrowings" of up to $30,000 from the branch account.
Party president Mike Williams said the treasurer, accountant Mark Proffit, was negotiating terms to repay the missing money.
Auckland Central MP Judith Tizard said that no pornography was found on a Labour computer.
"There was no porn found on any Labour computer that I know of. There was an accusation that somebody had downloaded porn on my electorate office computer. It was investigated and no one has been charged."
Therese Colgan yesterday denied reports that almost 900 images had been downloaded, saying that it was only a small number.
Parliamentary Service general manager John O'Sullivan confirmed that an incident had occurred in May and was dealt with in accordance with the service's code of conduct governing computer equipment. However he refused to give details.
