Kapiti police hold fears for the safety of a missing man and are appealing for public help to find him.
Alan John Davies was last seen in Tawa, north of Wellington, at about 10am on Sunday.
Police say the 40-year-old may have been in Queen Mary Park in
Paekakariki later that day.
Mr Davies is described as 165 centimetres tall, medium build, with brown shoulder length hair which he usually wears in a ponytail.
He is believed to be wearing jeans or camouflage shorts, and a black polar fleece vest.
Police say Mr Davies often travels between Wellington and Auckland, either hitch-hiking or by train.
Search and rescue staff are holding a meeting about the situation this morning.
