George Speight and his supporters look at the bullet-hole in the rear of his car fired upon by soldiers at an Army check-point in Suva. The military said its soldiers fired 20 warning shots after the cars in Speight's convoy refused to stop at the checkpoint. The army later apologised to Speight and his men and promised to discipline the soldiers responsible. Speight's spokesman, Jo Nata, said they believed it was an assassination attempt by the military.
