About 1.30pm last Sunday the manager of the Pizza Hut in Highland Park was threatened by a man with a sawn-off shotgun.
There were no customers in the restaurant at the time, and the manager was not injured.
The offender demanded and was given money from the till, and ran off with it in what appeared to be an old black laptop computer bag. He is described as Maori or Pacific Islander, 25 to 35, about 1.85m (6ft 1in), with curly black hair.
He wore a red and black checked shirt, faded jeans, dirty workboots and a white bandanna over his face.
Police ask anyone with information to phone 0800 4 ARMOS (0800 427-667).
