In the right place at the right time Brock Price took the opportunity to catch a boundary ball - proving to be the talent of the day at the Wellington HRV Cup game.
The former-Wairarapa representative cricket player and Wellington Firebirds fan was watching the HRV Twenty20 match against AucklandAces at Westpac Stadium on Saturday night when he leaned across the balcony and plucked Aces star player Luke Wright's boundary ball.
The catch got the crowd cheering.
Price was sitting in the front row and said he doesn't know what came over him when he leaned forward and caught the ball. "I was just sitting there and when I saw the ball I just lunged forward. It was just awesome. I had the opportunity and took it. It was amazing," he told the Times-Age.
In the video footage shown on 3 News, the Upper Hutt arborist precariously hangs by his lower torso over the railing to scoop the ball up.
The only thing that stopped him from falling over the railing was "my foot got stuck under the chair".
He felt a celebrity at the time with other spectators and commentators congratulating him on his catch, but since then the phone had gone frantic with calls from media wanting to interview him and friends constantly ringing after watching the amazing feat on television and Facebook.
"It was just awesome. I had people coming up to be telling me how good it was," he said.
