Homicide inquiry after man dies in Torbay on Auckland's North Shore

A 26-year-old man has appeared in court after a man died following a disorder in the Auckland suburb of Torbay overnight.

The man stood in the dock beside a police guard, dressed in a blue boiler suit.

Police were called to a report of a disorder at a property, on Auckland's North Shore, shortly before midnight.

On arrival police located a critically injured man.

Ambulance staff administered medical care, however, the man died at the scene.

The 26-year-old man was granted temporary name suppression.

He is due to reappear on Monday.

Police are continuing an examination of the scene of the homicide today.

A section of Weatherly Rd, in Torbay, between Sunburst Lane and Regatta Rd is closed off by a police cordon.

A neighbour told the Herald she woke around 2am and noticed several police cars with flashing lights on the street outside her home.

Police blocked off a section of the road shortly after, she said.

The woman, who did not want to be named, said there had been a fair amount of disorder at the house in the past.

The neighbour said police had been called to the address several times in the past year following fights on the property and on the street outside the house.

"There was a fight on the street once, about two years ago."

"There were a few ladies shouting and a man as well. There was at least one lady swinging punches."

The neighbour believed a family with children lived at the house.

Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.
