The famous saying "He loves me ... he loves me not" comes from one of the oldest and most loved classical ballets, Giselle. In a scene from the 1841 ballet Giselle, a peasant girl, is presented with a daisy by her love Albrecht, a duke. Albrecht expresses his eternal love for Giselle, who wanting to prove his pledge picks a flower and begins to pluck its petals in front of him.
The Royal New Zealand Ballet will be performing Giselle at the Aotea Centre from 31 August - 3 September. Tickets are on sale now.
