A campaign to buy the Rainbow ski area near Nelson lakes will be launched this week. A group of Nelson outdoor recreation enthusiasts have formed the Rainbow Project Steering Group to drive the campaign.
The group has called a public meeting on Thursday to get comments on its plans for the skifield, 100km southwest of Blenheim, and pledges of funding.
The 20-year-old field in the St Arnaud Range has been for sale since the end of last winter, following several seasons of marginal snowfalls.
