Gaffe-prone Melissa Lee is back for another run at the Mt Albert electorate in next month's general election.
The National list MP suffered a 9718-vote loss to David Shearer in the 2009 byelection after the resignation of former Prime Minister Helen Clark.
"I can only do my very best. I have lots to gain and he's got lots to lose," Lee said.
Lee is not solely focused on winning the seat Labour has always held. As National is polling above 50 per cent, she would be re-elected with her list placing of 34.
"As far as I'm concerned the party vote is most important," Lee said.
