A French tourist visiting New Zealand who was reported missing by his family has been found safe and well.

Eddy Paluch arrived in the country late last month and was meant to be back at work in France two days ago.

The 32-year-old was located in Auckland.

Paluch told police an ankle injury meant that he had a longer holiday than anticipated.

He plans to fly home tomorrow.
