Police are appealing for sightings of a French tourist who failed to return to work in France and hasn't been in touch with his family for more than a week.
Eddy Paluch, 32, arrived in New Zealand on December 28 and was expected back at work yesterday.
His last known location was Abel Tasman National Park.
His family last heard from him on January 6. He told them he had an ankle injury but was on his way to the coast to see dolphins and maybe do another trek.
He is reported to be very fit and is experienced at tramping in difficult conditions. He usually travels alone.
Search and Rescue checked huts on the Abel Tasman National Park and found no sign of him.
Paluch is believed to have rented a car while in New Zealand and police are currently contacting rental car companies to make enquiries.
Police are also talking to water taxi operators in the area of the Abel Tasman National Park.
If anyone has seen Paluch, or believes they have information which might help police locate him, they are asked to contact their nearest police station.
