It began with a grouchy cat in a banana box and ended up in court after a dust-up between two men.
Brett Palmer, 42, appeared for a defended hearing in Westport District Court this week accused of intentional damage and assault using bicycle handlebars as a weapon.
The court was
told Palmer had his stepdaughter, her boyfriend Ben Temperton and the couple's 3-year-old son in his car on February 1.
Also in the car was Palmer's cat, in a banana box, to be taken to the vet for desexing.
