Four people have been charged with murdering Nicholas Clarkson, who was found badly beaten in downtown Auckland in January.
The four were granted interim name suppression when they appeared in the Auckland District Court last week on aggravated robbery charges.
They allegedly robbed Mr Clarkson of his watch, cigarette case, wallet and
cash while armed with a length of timber.
Judge Russell Callander yesterday continued name suppression until 10 am tomorrow so the extended families of each accused could be informed of the murder charges.
Allan Roberts, representing an 18-year-old woman, said there were people with the same surname in prominent New Zealand sporting teams who needed to be told of the development.
Both Mr Roberts' client and another woman, also 18, had their bail continued on strict conditions, including living with their parents under a 24-hour curfew.
A 19-year-old man was declined bail yesterday, and a 21-year-old man will seek it tomorrow.
Mr Clarkson died in hospital after he was found on the corner of Gore and Quay Sts early on Friday, January 26.
Crown prosecutor Brian Dickey said police needed six weeks to prepare depositions statements.
All four defendants were remanded to reappear in May.
