Former All Black gives up council to be near injured son

Former All Black Grahame Thorne is quitting Nelson City Council to look after his seriously ill son.

David Thorne, aged 20, suffered a stroke after being injured in a rugby match in Motueka nearly a year ago.

Mr Thorne told the Nelson Mail he had decided not to seek re-election later this year in order to move to Christchurch to be closer to his son.
