Focus on coastline in search for elderly Warkworth woman

The search for an elderly Warkworth woman missing since Tuesday is now focusing on coastal areas.

Police are searching for Maree Wilkins, 84, who disappeared from a rest home on Leigh Rd in Whangateau, north of Warkworth.

Warkworth Police have posted a video online appealing for anyone with information of Wilkins' whereabouts to get in touch.

"We're using Search and Rescue, searching the coastal areas and bush areas of Whangateau," a police spokesman said in a video.

Wilkins was last seen wearing black dress pants and a multicoloured sweatshirt. Police said she was also wearing gumboots.

She was described as being 1.5m tall and frail.

Residents in the surrounding area were being asked to look out for the woman.
